Greenlee 555 Bender Guide: Models, Shoes & Roller Compatibility
The Greenlee 555 name spans multiple generations. This guide keeps the bender suffix attached to the shoe and roller requirements so a used or replacement 555 accessory is not treated as universal.
555 compatibility rule
Identify the bender generation first. Then select conduit type and size. Greenlee publishes different EMT and IMC support paths for 555C versus 555CX/DX/DX-22.

555, 555C, 555CX, 555DX and 555DX-22 are not one attachment identity
The 555 name spans multiple Greenlee electric-bender generations. The current Greenlee 555-series product page centers on the 555C Classic; older manuals and current accessory pages still reference 555CX and 555DX, and the single-shoe manual also identifies 555DX-22. When buying used equipment or replacement shoes, the suffix matters more than the “555” family name by itself.
| Bender | Current/legacy context | EMT path | Rigid/PVC path |
|---|---|---|---|
| 555C Classic | Current Greenlee power unit | 23803, 1/2"–2" EMT | 28008 rigid; 12586 PVC-coated rigid |
| 555CX | Legacy bender, still referenced by accessory documentation | 13934, 1/2"–2" EMT (obsolete group) | 28008 rigid; 12586 PVC-coated rigid |
| 555DX | Legacy bender, still referenced by accessory documentation | 13934, 1/2"–2" EMT (obsolete group) | 28008 rigid; 12586 PVC-coated rigid |
| 555DX-22 | Legacy 22-series documentation | 13934 in Greenlee single-shoe manual | 28008 rigid; 12586 PVC-coated rigid in Greenlee single-shoe manual |
Greenlee 555 single-shoe groups
| Catalog | Conduit | Documented benders | Support detail | Status note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 23803 | 1/2"–2" EMT | 555C | 02543 shoe + 02544 roller support | Current Greenlee product page |
| 13934 | 1/2"–2" EMT | 555CX / 555DX / 555DX-22 | 02543 shoe + 02567 roller support + 02552 squeeze roller for 1-1/2"–2" | Current product page marks group obsolete |
| 28008 | 1/2"–2" rigid; 1/2"–1-1/4" IMC; Sch. 40 pipe | 555C / 555CX / 555DX / 555DX-22 in manual | 02548 shoe + 02549 roller support | Current product page lists C/CX/DX |
| 12586 | 1/2"–2" 40 mil PVC-coated rigid | 555C / 555CX / 555DX / 555DX-22 in manual | 02553 shoe + 02554 roller support | Current product page lists C/CX/DX |
IMC requires another generation check
The 28008 rigid group covers 1/2"–1-1/4" IMC. For 1-1/2" and 2" IMC, Greenlee splits the support path:
- 555C: 01323 roller/support assembly used with the 28008 rigid group.
- 555CX / 555DX / 555DX-22: 13856 squeeze roller assembly used with the 28008 rigid group, according to the single-shoe manual.
That is not an interchangeable detail. The bender generation controls the support hardware.
SG4 Shotgun shoe: a different production workflow
Greenlee’s SG4 Shotgun shoe group is designed to bend up to four sticks of conduit at once. Current Greenlee documentation lists rigid 1/2", 3/4" and 1"; IMC 1/2", 3/4" and 1"; and EMT 3/4" and 1". The current product page lists 555C, 555CX and 555DX, while the SG4 operator manual also references the 555DX-22 publication.
SG4 is not a substitute for the full 1/2"–2" single-shoe range. It is a production attachment with its own size matrix.
Use the finder before buying a used 555 shoe group
Used listings often lead with “Greenlee 555 shoe” and omit the exact bender suffix or roller/support package. The safest order is bender model → conduit type → size → shoe group → roller/support.
Check current Greenlee 555-series listings
Use the finder and tables above to identify the power unit and attachment family first. Then compare current listings by exact Greenlee catalog number, especially when a seller is offering older CX/DX accessories.
Where the 555 fits in Greenlee’s wider bender line
The 555 is only one Greenlee bending platform. Compare it with the larger 881GX and rigid-focused 880/884/885 systems in the Greenlee Conduit Bender guide.
Replacing a shoe, roller or support?
The Greenlee 555 Replacement Parts Guide maps the 23803, 13934, 28008 and 12586 groups to their documented shoe/support components and keeps 555C versus CX/DX IMC hardware separate.

Frequently asked questions
What conduit sizes does the Greenlee 555C bend?
Greenlee lists the current 555C power unit for 1/2 inch through 2 inch rigid, EMT, IMC and PVC-coated rigid when equipped with the appropriate shoe/support group.
Does the 13934 EMT shoe group fit the Greenlee 555C?
No. Greenlee’s 555-series single-shoe manual lists 13934 for 555CX, 555DX and 555DX-22. The 555C uses the 23803 EMT shoe group.
Is the Greenlee 13934 EMT shoe group obsolete?
Yes. Greenlee’s current product page labels 13934 obsolete, although the company’s documentation still identifies the legacy 555CX/DX relationship.
Does the 28008 rigid shoe group work across 555 models?
Greenlee’s single-shoe manual documents 28008 for 555C, 555CX, 555DX and 555DX-22. The current product page explicitly lists 555C, 555CX and 555DX.
What is the Greenlee SG4 Shotgun shoe?
SG4 is a multi-conduit shoe group designed to bend up to four pieces at once. Greenlee lists rigid 1/2 through 1 inch, IMC 1/2 through 1 inch, and EMT 3/4 and 1 inch, with compatibility across current 555C/CX/DX documentation.
