Milwaukee Knockout Draw Stud Guide

Match Milwaukee EXACT punches and dies to the documented draw-stud family by conduit size, then verify the exact driver and stud variant before replacing a missing or damaged stud.

Compatibility rule

Match the exact model, application and replacement/accessory family before buying. Similar size or physical fit is not enough when the manufacturer documents different blades, studs, jaws, shoes or supports.

The draw stud is part of the knockout system—not a generic bolt

Milwaukee EXACT knockout tooling uses different draw-stud sizes as the punch diameter increases. A replacement should be selected from the exact punch/die chart because the stud, punch, die, driver and any Quick Connect or spacer components work as a system.

This page focuses on Milwaukee EXACT draw-stud selection. Cross-brand punch/die use is a separate adapter path and should not be inferred from the stud thread alone.

6T and 10T capacity still controls the setup

Correct stud size does not expand the driver’s material rating. Milwaukee’s 2677-20 6T manual gives a narrower stainless-steel range than its maximum mild-steel range. The 2676-20 10T platform supports a broader EXACT punch range and the larger long-stud path. See the Milwaukee Knockout Set Guide for tool capacities before treating a stud/punch combination as usable.

Compare Milwaukee knockout draw studs

Search by the Milwaukee catalog number rather than “7/16 stud” or “1-1/8 stud.” Verify regular, long and Rapid Reset variants plus any coupler/spacer requirements.

Regular, long and Rapid Reset are different replacement paths

Milwaukee publishes multiple stud configurations because the physical stack changes with punch size and workflow. A long 1-1/8-inch stud for the 5–6 inch range should not be replaced with the standard 49-16-2682 solely because both are described as 1-1/8 inch. Likewise, Rapid Reset components should be matched to the accessory chart rather than assumed interchangeable with every regular draw-stud setup.

Cross-brand adapters do not make Milwaukee studs universal

Milwaukee 49-16-2685 is a documented path for using other major brands of punches and dies with a Milwaukee FORCE LOGIC power unit in the scope stated by Milwaukee. The instructions can require the other manufacturer’s draw studs and spacers. The opposite-direction 49-16-2684 adapter is documented in Milwaukee service material for competitor power units using larger Milwaukee EXACT dies. Neither statement makes 49-16-2680/2681/2682 generic cross-brand studs.
