Burndy 12-ton tools are easiest to understand as part of an engineered compression system: connector, conductor, die index, U die and tool family. This guide separates self-contained, remote and battery Y750/PAT750 paths.

The Burndy crimper ecosystem is built around the connector system

Burndy does not treat the crimper as an isolated power tool. Its compression connectors are marked with wire size/type, die index and color coding, and its tooling catalog maps those connection requirements to specific die and tool families. That engineered-system approach is why the connector catalog number should be known before choosing a die.

What the Y750/PAT750 U-die family means

Burndy U-die product pages commonly identify Y35, Y750 and PAT750 as compatible tool families. They also document a 46-series path with the PUADP1 adapter for applicable U dies. That is a stronger statement than “the die looks like a standard U die,” because it names actual tool families.

However, a U die can be made for very different connector profiles—long-barrel lugs, taps, grounding connectors, aluminum connectors, overhead sleeves and more. Select by the connector's die index, not merely by conductor size.

Color code + die index + crimp count work together

Burndy HYDENT/HYLUG compression terminals are marked with wire size/type, die index and color coding, along with the proper number/location of crimps. The Burndy Die Chart on this site summarizes selected common copper lug/splice rows, but the connector's own current documentation remains the controlling reference.

Compare current Burndy crimper listings

Search by exact Y750 or PAT750 catalog number. Used and marketplace listings can mix current and legacy battery generations, so verify the head, die type, battery/charger and kit contents before purchase.

Legacy/current note: PAT750 is a family name

Burndy has sold multiple PAT750 battery generations. For example, older PAT750CXT18V documentation identifies that NiMH configuration as discontinued, while current PAT750L5/L5PB pages describe Li-ion Makita-powered variants. On a used-tool listing, the exact suffix is therefore important.

What dies does the Burndy Y750 use?

Current Burndy Y750 12-ton C-head tools use U dies. Burndy U-die product pages commonly list Y35, Y750 and PAT750 families, with Y46/PAT46 support through the PUADP1 adapter for applicable dies.

What is the difference between Y750 and PAT750?

Y750 names Burndy 12-ton HYPRESS hydraulic tool families, including self-contained and remote heads. PAT750 is the PATRIOT battery-hydraulic family. Both can use U dies in documented configurations.

Are older PAT750 tools still the same as current battery models?
